Students planning to taking classes through Global Campus this summer should attend tonight’s Global Campus parent meeting in the high school auditorium at 6 p.m. Kara Heichelbach, Center Grove’s eLearning coach and Global Campus director, will be there to answer any questions the student or parent may have.
“Global Campus has many benefits, such as taking a course in the summer to free up a student’s schedule for additional electives during the school year, credit recovery and grade improvement,” Heichelbech said. “Additionally, many colleges are offering online or blended courses, so Global Campus is great exposure for students. Finally, it allows students to learn at their pace.”
For the students and parents not able to attend the meeting, Heichelbech is willing to answer any questions they may have via email. All the information presented at the meeting will be available on the CG Global Campus website.
Josh Surface, an English teacher who has taught Global Campus courses during the summer, said the spring meeting is valuable for students and parents.
“Besides allowing a student to see a face—to know there’s someone behind the computer screen to see who will be interacting with them—I think it’s also beneficial for clear expectations and an understanding of how the course is going to start, what is coming,” Surface said. “To have that human interaction is very important because it could be the only face-to-face contact they have.”
